It's a doggie dog world out there!

Today was a special day for Dakota. He was privileged to spend a couple of hours at the near by doggie park.
They have recently opened a doggie park in an area very close to where we live. It is very nice and accommodating to dogs of all sizes. There is a large fenced in area for dogs that our 20 lbs and over and a separate fenced in area for the smaller dogs. This place is neat in the fact that you can let your dog off the leash to run until their hearts are content.
Dakota would of course be spending his time among the smaller dogs being that he weighs in at around 6 lbs. We learned something Dakota today. He is not a social butterfly. It is not that he doesn't like other dogs, it is just that he thinks he is not one of them. He tends to flock more to the people rather than play with the doggies.
We did meet a few friends while we were there. We met Baxter, he is a havanese, which is a cousin of the maltese. His coat was beautiful and very black. There were of course some trouble makers among the group, a miniature boxer who was trying to play too rough with some of the smaller dogs. His mom had to make him leave.
All in all the doggie park was fun and we will definitely go back. We hope that Dakota will learn to be more socialable and enjoy himself a little more.
