After much convincing Adam finally got me to go with him to the shooting range last weekend. Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against guns, I just don't know how to use one nor have I ever been around one. So, we went. On this particular day & at this particular range (close to our house), it was pretty darn crowded. I was nervous and didn't quite know what to expect. We waited our turn until a slot came up for us to use. Put on our protective eye & ear wear and headed in. There were about five other "shooters" in the same area. Just think 4 other people (that you don't know) holding guns in a relatively small space. I almost paniced thinking about that so I just tried to focus on learning how to load, hold, control & shoot the gun we were using. I couldn't even tell you what it was - I think a revolver. I didn't have much "kick" as they call it so it wasn't that bad. I did pretty well as far as hitting the target goes. Then Adam wanted to try another gun - 9mm maybe??? Again I could be totally wrong. Lots of kick and I did not like it one bit. I shot it twice and that was it for me - I was out. After shooting this gun, reality sunk it of where I was and I just felt completely overwhelmed. Adam continued on a little more and I watched safely from beside some bullet proof glass.
Why did we go you ask? Adam would like to purchase a gun for home protection. I am not against this idea but feel it is important to be educated and know how to use it before I bring it into our home. I honestly don't like guns but don't feel like having one in my home is that bad of idea if I know how to use it when ever necessary. I hope that time never comes.
