Last night marked the first night of the beginning of this season's American Idol. I am a pretty huge fan of the show especially when it gets to the "Top 10" stage. I do however enjoy the "audition" part of the show. I do not know why I find humor in watching people humiliate themselves over and over again. I often wonder if they know how stupid they look & sound and are doing it for pure attention (ie - the next William Hung) or if they truly think they have a chance? I don't know - all I do know is that it is funny.
Last night there were in Minnesota and they had Jewel as a "guest host" which was neat. I was a fan of Jewel's back in her "straight out of the van she was living in" days. I think she went a little off from her old school self when she started adding a lot of "pop/dance" type stuff to her more recent albums. Jewel did well giving her opinions/advise though in a respectful manner. Paula of course was her ditsy and somewhat out of it self. She pretty much goes along with whatever else the others have to say. Why is she still there?
Simon and Randy were there usual selves. Simon the constant critic who doesn't care if you have feelings or not and Randy was pretty much right along with Simon last night when it came to his comments.
The show comes on again tonight where they head to Seattle. I definitely hope they have better luck finding true talent especially after last night. We shall see....
