Just when you thought all heck broke lose in Minnesota, Seattle came. Craziness I tell you. What are these people thinking?
There was one point during the "auditions" (I use that term loosely) last night that I was laughing so loud I almost started crying. I must say that my favorite audition of the night would have to be Mischa. If you can't remember her, I'll help you out a little. Platinum blond hair, no bra, tennis shoes with stockings, bright red lipstick and her mother came in with her. To make matters worse she attempted to sing "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls. First of all, don't sing that song at an audition. That is not a song to show vocal talent and don't attempt to sing a song that is somewhat sexy when that is the farthest thing from what you are. It was brutal. One thing is certain though, she had a good attitude. She took the negative comments really well and was very respectful to the judges. I hate when people who know they are there to be judged talk back to the judges and yell at them like they are fools. That is what they are there for.
There were of course other faves of the night, "Red", the last guy to perform who said he sounded like the Queen lead man. Whatever! The "big eyed" guy who Simon said looked like an animal from the wilderness - that was a little low if you ask me. Comment on their singing - that is what you are there for but don't hit below the belt with comments on their appearances. So the guy wasn't very pretty and he did have big eyes - the fact was - he could not sing at all!
There were a few who sounded pretty good. I enjoyed hearing the brother and sister - I was also very pleased that they both made it. I hope they go far.
Well, next week is on to Memphis. I'm sure there will be Elvis freaks coming from every direction. I can't wait!
