AI - Birmingham & LA

American Idol headed to Birmingham AL & LA for auditions this week and boy was the talent in full swing at both locations.
We'll start with Birmingham - home of past winners & runners up. Taylor, Ruben & Bo all came from the Birmingham locations so you would expect "big" things. Not so much!
I totally respect people's differences but there are some odd people in this world.
Some people who really got my attention in AL were the following:
*Young girl with the longest hair ever - sweet voice but not made for American Idol. I don't really get the whole hair thing but her mom was the same way. I wonder if it is for religious purposes?
*Country girl who's daddy shot himself & is now paralyzed. She lives with her grandmother & helps take care of her daddy. She had a pretty decent voice but it wasn't necessarily my style of singing. I worry that she will be the next "Kelly Pickler" - I can't handle that.
*Blond girl who when she spoke sounded like a 4 yr old but when she sang it was very nice. That whole thing threw me off.
*50yr old, overgrown PEEP looking lady - what was she thinking? Or was she thinking at all?
*Jack Osbourne lookalike who sang Seal's "kiss from a rose" - what a great personality? I think he won the judges over even before he sang with his sense of humor. He made Simon laugh so that says a lot.

Then there were the LA auditions.
*Eccentric - first guy up who growled & purred at himself like he was a panther. The whole thing was very awkward and the fact that he couldn't sing made it worse. He also took his shirt off - WHAT?
*Mid-drift showing girl who's mom use to be a singer or something like that. I think she thought she was a definite because she was somewhat attractive, her mom's past & she was showing a little belly. Here is the kicker - you have to be able to sing & she couldn't. She then proceeded to beg & brought her mom in to beg for her. It was just sad!
*The girl name "Phoung" who tried to act (or something) like Taylor. Her voice was weird - she was just weird.
*Christina Aguliera's old background singer - Brandon! Fave of the LA auditions for me. He sang "Always on my mind" and it was fabulous. No more background singing for him. Put him on center stage. I think he'll go very far. My prediction is that he'll make it to the top 10.

I think next week is the last of the auditions - I'm ready to get down to the nitty gritty.
