"And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
My uncle James Michael Turner (Uncle Mick to me) passed away this past weekend. He was only 52 years old and lived many years of his life in bad health. For the past 12 years Uncle Mick had suffered many heart attacks, a stroke & other health issues. He spent the last decade in a great deal of pain. Last Tuesday he was finally admitted into the hospital after going into heart failure. He was surrounded the entire time by his mom, siblings & other family. Friday night I got the call that they removed him from his machines after many days in an induced coma and with little to no hope that anything could be done. His funeral was yesterday and the verse above mentioned several times during the service. There is no crying in heaven, nor is there pain or grieving. In heaven we are in the presence of Christ. Psalm 84:10 says, "for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness." One day in the presence of Christ is better than a thousand anywhere else. Uncle Mick is pain free and sitting before the throne of God. What a perfect picture?
